Affiliate your trade union
Trade Unions can affiliate to Rainbow International as a means of supporting our work to provide vital financial assistance to frontline, grassroots, LGBT rights activists campaigning for the rights of those who face discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity – principally in the countries where being LGBT is illegal. We provide emergency funding to defend and support LGBT rights activists under attack or threat. We work to raise awareness of human rights abuses of LGBT people across the world by publicizing news and reports from our grantee activists for the purpose of advancing human rights and informing public debate.

Affiliation: Rainbow International LGBT Activist Solidarity Fund
This branch notes the important work of the Rainbow International LGBT Activist Solidarity Fund to provide vital financial assistance to frontline, grassroots, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights activists working in the countries where being LGBT is illegal, and where people face discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Being gay remains illegal in 78+ countries across the world. That is an estimated 2.9 billion people criminalized for who they love and who they are. Speaking out for LGBT rights in many of these countries comes at immense personal risk. In 10 countries, being LGBT is punishable by death or life imprisonment.
Across the world, murders of transgender people is rising, as is the shocking extent of human rights violations committed against trans and gender-diverse people on a global scale.
41 of the 53 Commonwealth countries continue to impose anti-gay laws introduced by the British during colonial rule.
This branch shares the vision of the Rainbow International LGBT Activist Solidarity Fund of a world of true equality, justice, sexual liberation, and working class unity – free from any form of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity. This branch resolves to affiliate to the Rainbow International LGBT Activist Solidarity Fund and we call upon our Regional Councils and National Union to do likewise.
